Japanese dinner in Cancún
I was in Cancun for an entire week and even though I never thought this would happen I got tired of eating mexican seafood everyday so I wanted to do something asian, I know you’re going to think it’s still seafood, but if you’ve tried real mexican seafood you know what I’m talking about, it’s veeeery different, so when I found this place on nenemi, Tora Japanese, I was thrilled, everything looked amazing and I was hoping it was that good as well, and it was! Let me tell you more about it.
Usually, for me going with a lot of people to a restaurant sounds like the best idea, because you get to try a little bit of everything, or a lot, but this time I only went with one other person but we chose different things for the menu and shared, which is the best decision when you can’t decide between the white truffle oil and ginger gyozas and the salmon and shrimp nigiris.
For the second course we tried the salmon sashimi and the yellowtail tartar, both were absolutely delicious, fresh and perfect the next two things that we’re coming up: the New York steak, which was USDA prime and Robata style cooked, I had it medium rare, and my friend had the Maki salmon, which had fresh salmon and roasted as well, best of both worlds. For dessert, we obviously had both of them, the lava chocolate cake covered in caramel sauce and I ordered the deconstructed cheesecake. All of the dishes were delicious!
The place is insanely beautiful, you can sit on the terrace area and have the view of the Nichupté lagoon, you have the option of sitting on the white sofas, it gives a vibe of a lounge in the middle of the lagoon or having dinner in the middle of the water as well, and of course some nice beats thanks to the live DJ playing and everything is wooden deck. In the inside area, you can wait at the bar, which is also wood decorated, have one of their delicious drinks, i had a mezcalina. You can’t miss this place if you’re in Cancun! Oh and don’t forget to take pictures of your food, the plating is divine!
